South Africa’s northern most province, Limpopo Province is a land of breathtaking contrasts that is characterised by hot savannah plains and mist-clad mountains, age-old indigenous forests and cycads alongside latter-day plantations. For the nature lover, the area abounds in game farms, natural heritage sites and nature reserves, as well as the northern half of the infamous Kruger Nation Park.

The entire province is the perfect venue for mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, hot air ballooning, horse riding, trout fishing and angling. Limpopo is regarded as a prime birding destination and offers superb natural scenery as well as an interesting cultural heritage with many fascinating activities along various self-drive routes.

There are several well known landmarks in Limpopo, the Waterberg Mountains stretching over 5000 km˛, affording visitors to the area a unique scenic, historical and cultural experience. A visit to the natural hot water springs should soothe the soul and relax the mind and the Nylsvley wetlands is a birdlovers’ paradise with a huge concentration of waterbirds.

In the Makapans Valley is a large and near complete record of human occupation, dating back over 3 million years ago the th times of Ape-man, this area is in line for a World Heritage Site.

There are various self-drive meanders where you can explore the area at your leisure and enjoy the pleasures that Limpopo has to offer, from Baobabs and mountains to fruits and flowers to history and culture, and not to monetion the wildlife, Limpopo has it all.
