The
tourism grading council of South Africa has announced on the
3rd May 2003, at the opening of the 2003 Indaba held in Durban,
the introduction of the voluntary National Star Grading Scheme
for Caravan and Camping Parks.
Caravanners and Campers are able to look for the National
Star Grading logo and stars to assure them that a Caravan
and Camping Park or Resort has been personally visited and
assessed by an accredited assessor. Throughout the CaravanParks.com
Printed Guide you will notice that between one and five stars
are displayed against the Resort’s entry, indication
their Star Grading.
The National Star Grading of Resorts will provide Caravanners
and Campers with choice and confidence as it indicates to
both domestic and international tourists that a graded caravan
park has a commitment to quality and service. Visitors to
the graded resort will also have the facility of commenting
on a star-graded resort via the customer feedback center on
086 147 2333 or on the Tourism Grading Council’s website
– www.tourismgrading.co.za
Each establishment wishing to be graded firstly needs to
comply with the Caravan and Camping Minimum requirements,
and then only will they be graded according to The Grading
Criteria for Caravan and Camping for between one and five
stars.
The grading criteria have been developed based on guest expectations.
The criteria covers the following:
Security
Exterior of Buildings and Grounds
Sites
Ablutions/Bathrooms
Scullery
Laundry
